Four Victims Wounded at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Large Unauthorized Party Erupts in Gunfire
On Saturday evening, an unauthorized gathering of an estimated several hundred individuals at Howe Park in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area turned violent when 20 to 25 rounds echoed through the area as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were in the midst of dispersing the crowd.
A Timeline of Events
Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff was notified involving individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at Howe Community Park in Sacramento. A second report reported a possible physical altercation and people running from the area.
Aerial units was dispatched and swept the area but found no evidence of any physical confrontation.
However, an estimated several hundred attendees had assembled at the location for what officials called an unauthorized gathering. Responding deputies formed a perimeter around the park, activated their vehicle emergency lights, and took about 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse using public address systems.
As officers worked to clear the park, 20 to 25 rounds of gunfire were discharged — causing hundreds to flee in panic.
The Injured
Four people — one female and three males, each in their 20s — were taken to Home Depot Sacramento shooting nearby hospitals. Two were classified with immediate injuries, one with moderate injuries, and one with minor click here injuries. All four were listed as stable. Sacramento Metro Fire provided medical assistance at the park.
The Investigation Scene
Gunfire originated from the Cottage Way corridor side of the park alongside the Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The nearby Home Depot was temporarily locked down. Additional shell casings were identified on Cottage Way, with bullet holes found in the metal fence around the nearby Home Depot — pointing to gunfire directed south from Cottage Way toward the store. Crime scene investigators and detectives processed evidence at the scene through the night.
Suspect Information
Over scanner here traffic, it was established that a related suspect vehicle — a Kia — was pulled over in nearby Solano County with Cottage Way shooting Sacramento four people in custody. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office units were traveling to collect those detained and take them back to Sacramento County for investigation.
